This month, as per usual, there’s a seriously eclectic mix to the content. It’s our first ever cover featuring a bike rather than a car, for instance, but when that bike is the spectacular Aprilia RSV4, well, skip straight to the full article here.

We’ve also been terrorising the big guns in the feisty little Renault Twingo RS, soaking up the glorious African sunshine in a lovely pair of droptops, namely the BMW 135i and Audi A5 convertibles, and subduing the wilds on offer in our spectacular country in the new Land Rover Discovery 4.

For the purist enthusiast, we’ve visited the factory of the SA-born Millennium 7 and have all the details of this lightweight rocket right here, while those who enjoy donning their thinking caps might like to read our analysis of just how that magical fuel price is calculated, here.

Last but certainly not least, we attend and report on the launches of two of the newest models to hit SA shores, the all-new VW Polo and the budget-beating Proton Saga sedan. If you’re interested in either of these value-oriented machines, read our full launch impressions now!

This weeks’ ride is an Aprilia RSV4 Factory and I have been waiting in anticipation for this bike. It really is the most focused sports bike I have ridden in recent months, or years come to that. Every time you stop it takes 3 or 4 attempts to find neutral when you stop. The gearbox feels as though it’s made from rusty nails and makes a huge clunk when you drop it into first. The engine gets hot enough to kick the fan in even after a brief stop. It runs hot all the time in traffic even when you are moving. The pegs are set right back, nice and high up. There is almost no throttle free play. But I don’t care that’s what race bikes are like and this bike is so close to a race bike for the road. The power delivery is like a Ducati 1098 on steroids. It has huge torque and power is available right through the rev range. The there’s the noise, oh what a sound. Even with the standard Euro emission friendly standard pipe, people are going to know you’re coming. It looks just like Max Biaggi’s race bike as well. I am really looking forward to spending time with the RSV4, I wonder if my wife will let me park it in the lounge.
