Renault Megane C-C
There is a new Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet on the way and it’s set for a Geneva Motor Show launch. Renault say that this new Megane, which is the sixth body type for the range, has the elegance of a coupe with the thrills of driving a cabriolet. Last time I checked though taking a perfectly good car and then ruining it’s structural integrity by chopping off the roof doesn’t make the drive any more thrilling. Renault does however claim that the body is 80% stiffer than the previous Megane C-C to alleviate the problems of a cabriolet.
The new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet has a folding glass roof but as this is a bit of a hairdressers car keeping your hair in good condition is quite important for Renault. To this end the new Megane Coupe-Cabriolet’s is carefully positioned forward and works in conjunction with a fixed glass wind deflector behind the rear seats to ensure optimum hair care. So your hair will be good, if you have any, but I’m still not convinced about the thrilling driving part. A glass roof surely isn’t going to help the weight distribution, they’re quite heavy aren’t they?
The Megane Coupe-Cabriolet will come with a range of engine options and there is also now for the first time the option to have a six speed double clutch gearbox which Renault call EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch).
