Topless Italian – Maserati GranCabrio

Earlier this week, Russell shared with us a few reasons one should buy a supercar. His first reason was the most comprehensive – to drive it. To pick a road and drive until you have to stop for more fuel, just the joy of the experience. As he said, in this dreamy Utopia, the combination of outlandish presence, freakishly orgasmic sounds, and otherworldly dynamics will merge with testing tarmac into a glorious string of unforgettable memories to be savoured and subsequently cherished forever. Even more so in a convertible supercar, I may add, and soon, Maserati’s striking GranTurismo will be available with a canvas roof, offering some of the best convertible motoring around. And the GranCabrio is a stunner…
Traditional convertible motoring enthusiasts will be thrilled at Maserati’s design decision to go for an old-school canvas roof as it keeps the weight down and more practical boot space even with the roof down. Boasting what Maserati claims to be the longest wheelbase in class, GranCabrio features two rows of seating – a first for the Italian manufacturer in convertible form. The GranTurismo’s lascivious lines have been expertly transposed to convertible configuration motoring with this latest car.
Mirroring its coupe sibling mechanically, GranCabio is powered by the company’s larger capacity V8 from the GranTurismo S. The 4.7-litre engine produces 323kW and 490Nm of torque, distributing drive to the rear axle via a ZF six-speed automatic transmission. It makes a knee-weakening sound too..
