So Porsche has started a competition on their website in which you can win a Porsche 911 Evolution driving course at Silverstone, that’s not news is it? Well maybe not the prize but the nature of the competition itself is because it really does reward petrolheads, especially ones that are fans of the German brand.

You see the competition is an engine sounds one, not something that will be won by some random entrant who just got lucky by sending an email. You really do have to know the unique engine note of several Porsche cars to progress in this one and for that I applaud them.

So how does it work exactly? There are five categories through which you need to traverse, namely Carrera, Classic, Race Derived, 911 Turbo, and lastly Motorsport.

At first it sounds impossible, and quite frankly it almost is but they have helped a little. When you play the engine sounds there are options to choose from so in the 911 Carrera category for instance the options are the 996, 997 Gen I and 964.

Don’t take my word for it about the difficulty though, go give it a bash yourself.
